Options

Quality

Best looks the same as the original. Smaller files are easier to email.

How it works

  1. Pick your photos. From your camera roll, files or computer.
  2. We fix them on your phone.Squeezed on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Save them back to Photos.Into your camera roll, or your Downloads on a computer.

How it works

Each file keeps its format. JPGs are re-encoded with MozJPEG, the encoder photo sites use to save space. PNGs get fewer, smarter colours and tighter packing, like TinyPNG. GIFs keep their animation with a trimmed palette. SVGs are cleaned of editor clutter and stay sharp at any size.

If a file can’t be made smaller without visible damage, you get the original back untouched, never a bigger file.

Which strength to pick

Recommended is the sweet spot: you won’t see a difference, and files usually shrink by half or more. Less keeps a little more detail. Most squeezes harder for email and upload limits; look closely and you may see it. For a specific limit such as “under 500 KB”, use Reduce image size.

Questions

Will compressing lower the quality?

At Recommended you won’t see a difference on screen. JPG and PNG compression always removes some information, but it’s chosen to be the information your eyes don’t notice.

Does it change the size in pixels?

No. Width and height stay the same. To make photos smaller in pixels, use Resize image.

How much smaller will my photos get?

Phone photos usually shrink by 40 to 70%. Screenshots saved as PNG often shrink by 60 to 80%. Each file shows its before and after size.

Can I do this without a website?

On iPhone, Mail offers smaller sizes when you attach photos. On Windows, Paint’s Save as JPEG gives a modest saving. On a Mac, Preview’s Export has a quality slider for JPEG. This page compresses whole batches and every format at once.

Does it keep the date the photo was taken?

Yes. Photos come out the right way up, with their date taken, so they sort into the right place in your camera roll.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Compressing happens on your phone or computer, in the browser. Load the page, turn on airplane mode and try it: it still works.
