PNG or JPG?
Pick PNG when the image has transparency, sharp text or flat colours, such as a logo, a chart or a screenshot, or when you plan to edit it. Pick JPG for photos you just want to share.

What is a WebP file?
WebP is an image format made by Google for websites. It makes pages load faster, so many sites use it. When you save an image from a website, you often get a .webp file, and some apps, editors and upload forms won’t take it.
Can I do this without a website?
One file at a time, yes. On a Mac, open the image in Preview, choose File, then Export, and pick PNG. On Windows 11, open it in Paint and use Save as, then PNG. This page is quicker for several files and works the same on a phone.
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent areas in the WebP stay transparent in the PNG, so logos and stickers keep their clean edges.
Why is the PNG bigger than the WebP?
WebP squeezes images harder than PNG does. The PNG holds the same picture with no further loss, so it takes more space. If size matters more than editing, try WebP to JPG.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser converts them on your device. Load the page, turn on airplane mode and try it.
